THE MASTER CLASS OF POSHNESS: 2020 BENTLEY FLYING SPUR

November 12th, 2019 by

The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur is now in its third generation, and Bentley has raised the bar with this new model. The first sign of the grand luxury Bentley intended to show comes with the massive vertical front grille. Joining the new grille design is the legendary “Flying B” hood ornament to show unmistakably this is a Bentley to remember.

New Bentley Flying Spur Coming Soon to Manhattan
This new iteration of the Flying Spur rests on a wheelbase of 125.7 inches, which is five inches longer than its predecessor. The majority of this increase Bentley has placed in what it calls the “prestige mass” or the distance between the front edge of the front doors and the wheel wells. This prestige mass coupled with a shorter front overhang results in the Flying Spur looking like a rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan, but like all Flying Spurs, it uses all-wheel drive. The car is mostly powered through the rear wheels, but the front wheels activate when slip is detected. The driver can choose modes that determine how much power will divert to the front wheels, resulting in precise driving behavior. Handling behavior is assisted by 48-volt adaptive anti-roll bars, air suspension, and adaptive dampers.

The only available engine is a W-12 twin-turbo engine familiar to Bentley owners, although Bentley has indicated a twin-turbo V-8 4.0-liter engine will be available sometime in the future. The W-12 engine now includes a cylinder deactivation system which improves efficiency by 15% per Bentley. Bentley states this engine delivers 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque with a top speed of 207 mph and 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds with its dual-clutch transmission and launch control.

Inside the Bentley Flying Spur is where the bespoke craftsmanship shows. Along with the carefully chosen leather hides and exotic woods are features such as the available champagne refrigerator, full infotainment system with controls in the rear seats, and a disappearing infotainment screen in the front dashboard. The quilted seats are emblazoned with the Flying B symbol. Owners can choose from a vast selection of upholstery and woods to make the Flying Spur their own.
