Showcasing the beginning of its motorsport development with the DNA of its model 550 Spyder right when you step into the exhibit area. Originally manufactured in the 1950’s, this model is a remarkable display to show the motorsport successes of the Porsche brand. Across, the 918 Spyder provides vision into the DNA of the future of a Porsche sports car. Impressive, as the first vehicle internationally approved to use on the street breaking the seven-minute barrier during a lap of the North Loop of Nürburgring clocking a time of 6 minutes 57 seconds. Besides the impressive record breaking lap, the 918 Spyder provides a quiet serene drive within the city streets with zero emissions.
Current models presented will include the new mid-engine roadster, being presented 20 years after the original Boxster debut. Linking the traditional 4-cylinder flat engines of the 1950’s and 1960’s including legendary Targa Florio and Le Mans is represented by the newly developed 4-cylinder flat engine with turbo, the 718 Boxster.
Beginning in 1963, Porsche has continued to bring along seven generations of the 911 model which consumers responded by making it the world’s best-selling sports car. You can expect to find the new 911 Carrera Coupe and 911 Carrera Cabriolet (991) models at DRIVE. For the first time these sports cars are powered by twin turbo engines as well as increased performance and efficiency. With the new Porsche 911 GTS RS, the boundary between street sports cars and racing cars has been broken.
Highlighted will be the winning Porsche 919 Hybrid that drivers Earl Bamber, Nico Hülkenberg and Nick Tandy drove in the 24-hour Le Mans world championship last year.
