Lamborghini’s Rumored Hybrid Supercar

Lamborghini has already announced their intent to offer hybrid versions of the Aventador and Huracan models by incorporating a combination of normally aspirated gas engines and electric motors. Now rumors are circulating of a new supercar model code named LB48H. Lamborghini held a preview for potential buyers in June 2018 and it was stated the LB48H will be a hybrid Aventador successor which may be released in 2020. Here are some things known about the LB48H from industry sources:

Lamborghini Aventador
  • The model may have a price tag of nearly $3 million
  • It will glow in the dark (more about that below)
  • It is rumored to have as much as 838 horsepower from a V-12 engine and electric motor, with the engine developing 789 horsepower and the motor only 49
  • To reduce battery weight it may use supercapacitors to produce a large amount of energy quickly<./li>

Lamborghini has already announced their intent to have a full hybrid vehicle line, and has stated that the Aventador SVJ is the last model they will produce without a hybrid engine design. Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s chief technical officer, stated that they expect the hybrid system will add 330 to 440 pounds (150 to 200 kilograms) to the curb weight. Lamborghini expects improvements over time will reduce the weight of the hybrid system, yielding performance enhancements as a result.

About that glow in the dark exterior, the technology is undefined at present but will incorporate an overlay of some glow technology over the carbon fiber and composite body. It’s more of the Lamborghini wild side we have come to expect from them!
