Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) is the brain child of Ferrari-loving James Glickenhaus. His dream has been to win the Le Mans 24-hour race in an American-bred hypercar. Getting there has been quite a journey.

Glickenhaus Racing first qualified its SCG 003C at the pole position for the Nürburgring 24-hour race by designing the car for GT3 rules, but finding the aerodynamics to be suitable for higher level racing since they were very close to LMP2 rules. They also designed the 003 to be road legal in 49 states using a 4.4 liter BMW supercharged engine.

Then they re-created Steve McQueen’s legendary Baja Boot with the SCG Boot which will be raced at the 2019 Baja 1000 later in 2019, then offered as a road-ready version with a limited production run. But that wasn’t enough for Glickenhaus. The company kept working on the ultimate goal of competing at Le Mans.

Then a breakthrough happened when FIA announced rule changes allowing production vehicles to be raced in a new LMP1 hypercar class. The SCG 007 will be a hybrid car with an electric motor driving the front wheels and a combustion engine powering the rear. Current Le Mans hypercars get about 700 HP from the engine and 300 HP from the electric motor, so expectations are SCG will fall into the same range with the 007. Along with all this development SCG is also planning to offer a retro two-seat coupe and Spyder SCG 006 in 2019 or 2020. Production capability will improve as SCG is in the process of developing a second factory in Danbury Connecticut. The current headquarters of Sleepy Hollow New York cannot support the expected demand. The Connecticut plant also has direct access to an airport so buyers can fly in to visit the factory.
