Porsche has sold more than 460,000 of the sporty Macan models, more than either the venerable 911 or the Cayenne. It is Porsche’s best-selling model for good reason. The base Macan and S models got a refresh in 2019, but now it’s time for the Macan Turbo to have its turn.

2020 Porsche Macan Turbo

The 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo is powered by a 2.9 liter V-6 shared with the Cayenne and Panamera. It produces 434 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque up to 5,000 RPM. It uses an all-wheel-drive system that favors the rear wheels with power transferred via the Porsche 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox with paddle shifters. It has been clocked at 4.3 seconds in 0-60 MPH tests (4.1 seconds with the available Sport Chrono package). Top speed is listed as 167 MPH, slightly faster than the previous Macan Turbo generation.

One bit of news is the new Macan Turbo uses a thermoplastic brake pedal, rather than the traditional metal one, to reduce weight and add strength. Also, the brake rotors are coated with tungsten carbide using a treatment called Porsche Surface-Coated Brakes or PSCB. This coating is supposed to greatly reduce the amount of “brake dust” on the alloy wheels by reducing rotor wear. Porsche states that 70 percent of the dust we see is from the rotors rather than the brake pads.

The base 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo can be enhanced with a long list of available features including:

  • Black leather interior
  • Adaptive air suspension
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Park assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Sport Chrono Package
  • Burmester surround-sound system
