CHIRON

Introduced 11 years ago, the Bugatti Veyron shook the exotic super-car world with its power and engineering design. Not satisfied with the last decade, Bugatti has re-defined the super-car with the 2017 Bugatti Chiron, a design that began even before the Veyron was born. Even more powerful than its predecessors, it reaches new heights as a work of art which can be driven on the highway.

Following on the footsteps of the Veyron with its 1,001 horsepower, then the Super Sport with 1,200, the Chiron will have a mind-bending 1,500 horsepower. This extraordinary vehicle will accelerate from 0-62 mph in under 2.5 seconds, to 124 mph in under 6.5 seconds, and to 186 mph in under 13.6 seconds. Limited by a built-in governor to 261 mph for road use, Bugatti insists that speeds well above that are possible. In fact, they plan in 2017 to break their own Guinness Book of World Records speed record of 267.8 mph set in a Veyron Super Sport in 2010.

The heartbeat of the 2017 Chiron comes from its 16-cylinder W-configured engine, displacing 7.993 liters and producing 1,500 horsepower. There are four 2-stage turbochargers reaching maximum torque at 2,000 RPM. This torque is maintained all the way to 6,000 RPM, providing hair-raising acceleration and speeds only dreamed of by other super-cars.

The Chiron’s low and wide stance appears fast when sitting still. The curved roofline is accented by a two-tone paint scheme available in a number of different contrasts. The high-strength alloy wheels give a clear view of the oversized brake discs needed to tame the Chiron. Distinctive spotlight headlights with LED daytime running lamps bring your eye to the front, where the iconic Bugatti badge sits proudly in the midst of the large black grille. Inside the Chiron, elegance is the keyword for the interior, with exclusive materials and craftsmanship that are timelessly Bugatti. The driver’s position is cockpit-inspired with all controls close at hand. The instrument cluster includes a centered speedometer, with engine performance and navigation screens to each side.

At Bugatti “form follows performance” but that only provides a glimpse of the DNA embedded in the 2017 Chiron. The performance comes from aerodynamics to keep the Chiron firmly planted on the roadway at any speed, but the form creates a smooth flow from front to back that accentuates air inlets, smooth body lines, and sharp contrasts using colors and curving panels. Move to the rear and you will see the centered dual exhausts, the thin horizontal rear lighting, and the stylized Chiron badge proclaiming its place as the pinnacle of super-cars.
