BETTER AND FASTER: 2021 PORSCHE 911 TURBO S

April 20th, 2020 by

Porsche 911 owners have always known their cars were fast and fun, but Porsche has managed to make the 2021 911 Turbo S even faster and definitely more fun. The faster can be attributed in part to the revamped 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine developing 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This is 60 horses and 37 lb-ft above the previous model. Porsche has published a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds, but they can be a bit conservative so you might be able to shave off a little bit from their time.

Although the new engine is slightly smaller than its predecessor it has plenty of turbo boost to make up for it — 22.5 psi in fact. It also uses larger intercoolers fed by two sets of inlets in the rear fenders and the rear deck lid. Stopping the Turbo S will now be more efficient as well with its 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors with 10-piston calipers, up from 6-piston calipers in the previous model. A slightly wider stance of just under two inches gives a positive feel to hard cornering.

The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S comes with an 8-speed dual-clutch as standard, and it does a great job of anticipating gear changes as you work your way through the curves. You can also take advantage of launch control when you put the transmission in Sport or Sport Plus mode. You can opt for the available PASM sport suspension that can lower the car 0,4 inches with recalibrated adaptive dampers and high-rate springs. You can choose the suspension between Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus. The Turbo S also comes with all-wheel steering and all-wheel drive for the ultimate in traction and control.
