Born from Racing: The New 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
The latest Porsche vehicle makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. This vehicle, a remarkable sports car born from racing, is the 2019 911 GT3 RS. This newest model packs a punch, while also offering refinement and style.
The 2019 GT3 RS has a “race-bred chassis and high-revving four-liter, naturally aspirated engine producing 520 horsepower and 345 lb.-ft. of torque,” according to the Porsche News press release. The 911 GT3 RS does not mess around. This outstanding horsepower and unbelievable torque contribute to the vehicle’s stellar speed. “The new 911 GT3 RS accelerates from 0 to 60 mpg in 3.0 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds quicker than the current 911 GT3 with PDK and 0.1 seconds quicker than the previous 911 GT3 RS,” the press release explains. These chart-topping speeds can reach as high as 193 mph.
The aerodynamics and lightweight design of the 2019 911 GT3 RS contribute to these outstanding speeds. The weight-optimized body of the GT3, as well as the classic fixed rear wing, are just some of the carefully designed elements of the sports car. Both the front and rear fascia of the 911 GT3 RS are made from lightweight polyurethane, and the front trunk lid and fenders are made from carbon fiber. These high quality, yet lightweight materials allow the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS to meet its full potential.
For those who want even more out of the 2019 911 GT3 RS, the vehicle comes with an optional Weissach package. This package features magnesium wheels for extra weight savings, as well as front and rear sway bars, coupling rods, special steering wheel trim, and shift paddles on the steering wheel made from carbon fiber. “Optional forged magnesium wheels, weighing around 25 pounds less than the standard wheels, are available as well in conjunction with the Weissach package,” according to the Porsche press release.
