Bentley Motors was founded in 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley. The first model of Bentley, the rapid 3-litre, was released two years later. This started an incredible history. The Larger Bentley cars were so successful at Le Mans and this earned Bentley Motorcars such a renowned status among British sports car enthusiasts. Now The Bentley brand was known to be one of the most highline automobiles across the world. Bentley’s state of the art factory is now located in Crewe, England. The Wall Street Crash of 1929 created a financial setback for Bentley. In 1931, Bentley sold the brand to Rolls-Royce. The 3 ½ litre was the first Bentley that was introduced. In the following decades, the prices of Bentley were more than Rolls-Royces and Bentley slowly withdrew into anonymity. Finally in the 1980s, Bentley Motors took a big change. A new policy was set into place. It was to establish an iconic brand name. The Mulsanne Turbo Sedan was introduced to those with heavy pockets. Following the Mulsanne, the Continental Coupe and Convertible brought a distinct look for Bentley.
Then in the 1990s Bentley introduced the Azure convertible and Arnage sedan. However it seemed to keep Bentley just at a steady pace until finally Volkswagen acquired Bentley Motors and the Crewe Factory in 2000s, German automakers took the chance to allowed Bentley to expand the model lineup and improved overall quality of all cars. In 2003, the Sporty Continental GT coupe was redesigned and became so popular, Bentley’s sales quintupled and began to change Bentley’s image. Bentley also introduced a convertible version of the Continental known as the Continental GTC and a four door version of the Continental, the Flying Spur. In 2011 the redesigned Mulsanne once again became the flagship sedan.
